The Chacha supports the cause of abolition of all modern forms of slavery. To advance this cause, the House of de Souza promotes peaceful initiatives to raise public awareness of this cruel reality, particularly through a literary competition open to youth. Young people are invited to write a short story, account, or poem denouncing modern slavery and to then submit their text to the palace using the attached application form and attaching an electronic copy of their text. Each participant will receive an official letter from the Chacha acknowledging their contribution to the cause of abolition of all modern forms of slavery. A literary committee will analyze the texts and will select those that stand apart for their quality of language and originality in treating the subject of slavery. Selected candidates will receive the Literary Award of Chacha IX, in addition to having their texts published in the Chacha’s literary collection and a limited-edition book published on December 2, to commemorate the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, and deposited with the United Nations. Authors who have been published will be inducted into the Court of Chacha IX and elevated to the rank of His Honour, Equerry to the Prince.
